Dr. Hamed Niroumand was born on 8 Aban 1363 (Solar Hijri), corresponding to October 30, 1984, as a citizen of Iran. He began his educational journey at the age of six in kindergarten and continued his studies with high motivation and energy, receiving numerous awards of excellence. During high school, he ranked among the top students at the school level in the field of Mathematics and Physics. Due to his close cooperation with family members in construction and civil activities during his high school years, and his full-time involvement in all stages of constructing the family home during the first and second years of high school, he purposefully and exclusively chose Civil Engineering and a career in the construction industry for his higher education. Throughout his university education at various levels, while simultaneously working with specialized companies, he deliberately pursued a professional path in the construction industry. He continued his postgraduate education abroad, where he achieved numerous academic, research, and professional accomplishments, including obtaining two Ph.D. degrees in Civil Engineering and Architectural Engineering, as well as two Postdoctoral Fellowships in Civil Engineering and Green Building. After completing his postdoctoral studies, he returned to Iran. Since 2010, he has been teaching at various academic levels in universities both inside and outside the country. He is a full-time university professor with teaching and research expertise in two main disciplines, including Geotechnical Engineering, and Sustainable Development, with specializations in soil-based architecture and nanomaterials. Dr. Niroumand has served as a project manager and professional engineer in numerous national and international research, design, and executive projects in Geotechnical Engineering and soil-based architectural projects. Between 2011 and 2013, he received several national and international awards, including: First Rank, Iran Science and Technology Festival (2012), Top Young Scientist, National Iranian Youth Festival (2012), Top Young Scientist (Scientific Section), National Iranian Youth Festival (2013) - Iranian Expatriates Division, Multiple international medals, Top Researcher, Ministry of Roads and Urban Development (2015), He completed his postgraduate studies with top honors at both faculty and university levels. His academic service record includes acting as secretary and chair of more than 20 international festivals and conferences held in various countries. He is also a member of editorial boards and a reviewer for over 80 specialized international journals, and has served as a reviewer for more than 50 international conferences held in countries such as the United States, United Kingdom, Brazil, Australia, Japan, and others. Dr. Niroumand has published numerous articles in ISI and Scopus-indexed journals in English and has authored multiple scientific books published in the United States, Europe, and Iran, including with publishers such as Elsevier and Taylor & Francis (USA). He also holds scientifically approved domestic inventions and several international patents. Since 2013, he has been an active core member of various international specialized committees in multiple technical fields. His professional experience also includes serving as a board member, senior consultant, and project manager for various geotechnical engineering projects. Currently, his work focuses on shallow and deep foundations, various soil anchoring systems (including helical, plate, grouting, rotary systems, etc.), nanotechnology in geotechnical engineering, and earthen architecture as green buildings, while simultaneously applying the principles of sustainable development. Among his professional background is serving for many years as CEO of a private construction company, beginning from the age of 21 and continuing for several years thereafter. He also served as a part-time senior consultant and Secretary of the National Strategic Council for Transportation Infrastructure (roads, highways, and railways) at the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development (MRUD) from 2014 to 2016, after which he resigned. Additionally, he held the following academic administrative positions: Head of Civil Engineering and Architecture Department (2014-2015), Vice Chancellor for Education and Research (2015-2017), Secretary of the University Strategic Council (2014-2017), Member of academic educational and research commissions and working groups (2015-2017), Member of national and international specialized committees (2014-present). He also served as a national entrance examination question designer for Master’s and Ph.D. programs in his areas of specialization during various years prior to 2021. Many of his former students, educated under his supervision at various academic levels, are now professionally active across the world including in the United States, Australia, Europe, and Asia working as professional engineers, collaborating with universities, or serving as faculty members up to the doctoral and professorial levels. The implementation of industry-oriented research projects aimed at solving real-world industrial challenges has always been a top priority in all postgraduate theses supervised or advised by him. Emphasis is placed on novelty, avoidance of repetitive global research topics, and effective international collaboration within the global scientific community. From Dr. Niroumand’s perspective shaped by years of living in different countries, the world is a small global village, and leaving behind a legacy of sincere service to humanity, while preserving human dignity, is among the most valuable and enduring achievements of a lifetime.
